Taste it Tuesdays
This program will allow all students during lunch time to taste and learn about different fruits and vegetables that are locally grown. We hope students enjoy the adventure in trying new foods each month this school year!
Healthy Changes in Our School Cafeterias!
We were busy last summer with Cook for America visiting our district to train us, and surrounding districts, on how to cook nutritious meals from scratch. We are thankful for this opportunity to now better serve our kids with delicious meals that are healthy too!
School meals also offer students milk, fruits and vegetables, proteins and grains, and they must meet strict limits on saturated fat and portion size. School lunches and school breakfast will meet additional standards requiring:
· Age-appropriate calorie limits. A whole breakfast is 400-500 calories. A whole lunch is 550-700 calories.
· Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving of produce)
· A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables and legumes
· Fat-free or 1% milk
· More whole grains
· And less sodium
We’re always working to offer Dayton students healthier and tastier choices.
School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families too! All school meals are free to all students this school year.

We provide free meals for all students.
With the change to the free meals for all students families will not have to fill out the lunch application this year. Each family will have to fill out a Household Income Sheet to see if you qualify for the reduced school fees and for other programs here at Dayton. The sheet needs to be returned to school. If you receive the form and receive food stamps please return the income form along with your benefit letter to Lauren Marlow. EVERY FAMILY HAS TO FILL OUT ONE OF THESE FORMS.
